1. PROGRAMME FOR 1994
It was agreed that the programme for 1994 would use B882 (taught by Jane Henry, as agreed with her, involving three 2 week visits) as a compulsory course.
Students would then have a choice between two courses:
B888 - open to all students (and taught by Peter Stratfold, on three 2 week visits)
B886 - due to the difficulties inherent in the 'Research Project, however, open only to selected third year students (Meles, Seaye, Tsadkahn, Yemani, Abay, Abadi, Teklewoni). This would also be taught by Peter Stratfold (with rather more support than usual from David Mercer, as part of his other work - though this might be extended to 2.5 weeks to cover this).
Perter Stratfold will start the teaching (on B888 but especially on B886) in December 1993, which leaves the opportunity for a fourth visit in 1994.
2. PROGRAMME FOR 1993
The existing (revised) schedule of visits will remain in place.
David Mercer will briefly review the Politics block of B885 before concentrating on the Sociology block (and introducing the Technology block) when he teaches in June.
Richard Wheatcroft will run a two week course in November, outside of the MBA (and using highly selected material from B883 and B785), to teach finance.
3. CURRENT POSITION
The changes, in location (and the face to face lecturing, involving more formal use of acetates etc), were reported. These posed no special problems.
Of the original students, eight of these (Meles, Seaye, Tsadakhan, Yemani, Abay, Johannes, Abadi, Teklewoni) were still on schedule to gain the MBA at the end of 1994. Two more (Tefera, Hibur) should follow in 1995/1996. It was accepted that Tamrat would probably drop out.
Of the 12 new starts so far it appeared as if five of these were probably going to achieve the MBA in 3 years (1995). These were Serai, Sebhat, Meressa, Bittu and Halefom. Bereket was another possibility.
