1960s PRIVATE LIFE
By the end of the 1960s I had a young family to bring up. This was perhaps
the area where I ultimately recorded my greatest failure. As with many ambitious
managers of the time, and since, without really even noticing what was happening
I sacrificed family life on the altar of my career. But it all started out so
well!

- and a less traditional, and ominously less fulfilled, follow-up

0123 The Hellyers

- and an introduction to my in-laws
And, of course, it brought my two children. Even then the coming problems were not obvious, and life was sweet.

And, while we moved our home around a number of locations in London, even this did not phase us.

And our spare time pursuits moved from the arts to family holidays.

But, more damaging, my family eventually had to follow me as my career took
me around the UK. They increasingly had to take a back seat where the pursuit of income –
and then power – took precedence.
