FUTURE OBSERVATORY This started life as a joint project of the Open University Business School (OUBS) and the Strategic Planning Society (SPS), investigating the future of society. It comprised two main elements - a debate run by the special interest group of SPS and a large-scale research programme run by OUBS - in addition to bibliographies and reference sources; along with archive material (including the results of the Millennium Project). RESEARCH The research was run by an Open University Business School research group. A variety of tools were used in this research; including the SPS debates, focus groups and mail-surveys - as well as specific projects undertaken by teams of OUBS students. This work was sponsored by Barclays Bank, British Telecomm Laboratories, ICI, and ICL; and was also supported by the office of the President of the European Commission.
